Very interesting .30 Cal M1 carbine that was one of a number used by the Norwegian Resistance during WW2. These were air dropped into Norway, to assist the Norwegians in their fight against the Germans. It was manufactured by Inland Division of General Motors.
Condition is very good with excellent bore and comes with its 30 round magazine.
Norway received unofficial aid from the Swedish population during WW2 and this gun was presented to a Swedish Forester by the name of Erik Hjerper, who lived near the Norwegian border. I do not know what Hjerper had done to be presented with the carbine. A Hall Marked silver plaque has been inserted into the butt saying ” To Erik Hjerpe from Home Guard Area HSD 12″. “HSD 12” was the code for a specific area of the resistance.
I have attached a picture of a number of resistance fighters on skis, each carrying a M1 carbine. I also have a letter from the Norwegian Resistance Museum.
